Thank you to everyone who attended a DANCE FRIENDS event in 2025!
There will be plenty more events in 2026, but before that, a word about NEW YEARS EVE. I’m getting lots of questions about New Years events, and I do have a list of those (see below).
But what I want to talk about is the frenzy of New Years, the strong compulsion everybody feels to be OUT ON THE TOWN, doing something fun to celebrate the New Year. This is the one night every year when most “regular” people make a huge effort to go out dancing. They wait ALL YEAR and then try to pack a whole year’s worth of celebratory dancefloor fun into one night.
Isn’t it so much better to be DANCE PEOPLE? We don’t NEED to go out on New Years (though, of course, many of us will choose to) because we go out dancing ALL YEAR LONG. So, in that vein, I say… certainly, check out the list of NYE events, but make 2026 a DANCING YEAR. Don’t stop at NYE! Go dancing THIS WEEKEND! The great news is that as soon as the New Years holiday is over, there are a ton of dance events happening ALL THE TIME.

For the rest of you already DANCING PEOPLE, here are two ready and waiting events the first weekend in January:
SALSA NIGHT @ TOCAYO: This event is hosted by DANCE FRIENDS members Colleen & Jeff Shirey. They will be playing primarily Salsa, Bachata and Merengue, but they often play a few other dances like Cha Cha, Kizomba and Hustle. If you don’t know Salsa, or if your Salsa is rusty, the dance is preceded by a Salsa Lesson @ 7:00pm. This event is hosted at Tocayo Restaurant in Bethel Park, so there is a full bar and food menu. Stop in early to make it an evening of dinner & dancing!

AMORE BALLROOM: This event is hosted by DANCE FRIENDS member Joe Aiken, who runs the Amore Ballroom Dance Club. There will be ballroom, Latin and social dancing throughout the night. The evening kicks off with a Waltz lesson at 7:00pm; the dance social starts at 8:00pm.
